Birding Tour Of Gujarat

Day 1 :- Ahmedabad Arrival – Velavadar (Approx 160 Kms, 4 Hrs)

• Velavadar Blackbuck National Park, a paradise for birdwatchers. Harriers, Indian Courser, Eurasian Wryneck, Rufous-tailed Lark
• The park is also home to Blackbucks, Indian Wolves, and Jungle Cats
  
  

Day 2 :- Velavadar – Sasan Gir (Approx 250 Kms, 5 Hrs)

• Birdwatching session in Velavadar, looking out for Montagu’s Harriers, Short-toed Snake Eagles, and Crested Larks.
• Sasan Gir, the only habitat of Asiatic Lions and a significant birding destination.
• Hiran River

Day 3 :- Sasan Gir – Jamnagar (Approx 180 Kms, 4 Hrs)

• morning birdwatching safari in Gir, where you may spot Paradise Flycatcher, Tickell’s Blue Flycatcher, Plum-headed Parakeet, and White-eyed Buzzard.
• birding hotspot on the Gulf of Kutch.
• Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary, where freshwater and marine ecosystems attract a variety of birds like Black-necked Storks, Dalmatian Pelicans, Eurasian Spoonbills, and Pallas’s Gull.
• Lakhota Lake, a prime spot for migratory birds, including Greylag Geese, Common Pochards, and Greater Flamingos.
  
  

Day 4 :- Jamnagar – Little Rann of Kutch (Approx 280 Kms, 6 Hrs)

• Marine National Park (Depending On Tide Conditions), Where You Can Witness Crab Plovers, Eurasian Oystercatchers, Terek Sandpipers, And Great Knots. This Coastal Region Is A Prime Site For Waders, Gulls, And Terns.
• Little Rann Of Kutch (LRK), An Open Saline Desert Known For Its Diverse Bird Species.
• Zainabad, Which Are Excellent For Sociable Lapwings, White-Tailed Lapwings, And Demoiselle Cranes.
• Evening Safari In LRK, Where You Can Spot Short-Eared Owls, Indian Coursers, And Greater Hoopoe Larks. The Region Is Also Famous For The Indian Wild Ass
  
  

Day 5 :- Little Rann of Kutch

• Birding In Little Rann Of Kutch – Greater Flamingos, Lesser Flamingos, Dalmatian Pelicans, And Painted Storks , Mcqueen’s Bustard, Sykes’s Nightjar, Chestnut-Bellied Sandgrouse, And Desert Wheatears. Variable Wheatear, Isabelline Shrike, And Grey Hypocolius.
• Bustard Breeding Area, Where You Might Get A Chance To See The Elusive Macqueen’s Bustard.
  
  

Day 6 :- Little Rann of Kutch – Nalsarovar – Ahmedabad Drop (Approx 260 Kms, 5 Hrs)

• Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary, the largest wetland bird sanctuary in Gujarat, spread over 120 sq. km.
• boat safari, an excellent way to explore the lake and its birdlife.

Nalsarovar is home to over 250 bird species, including Pied Avocets, Black-winged Stilts, Rosy Pelicans, Glossy Ibis, and Garganeys.
